Your launch workspace, explained.

A practical guide to installing ListingSail, preparing your profile and working through directory campaigns with your AI.

Updated October 27, 2026 · Desktop 0.1.3 Preview

One brief. A clear launch workflow.

ListingSail is Windows software for preparing and managing directory submissions with your own AI provider. The website provides subscriptions, downloads, accounts and a separate hosted workspace. Local desktop work is kept on your computer.

  1. Add your public website URL and review the extracted facts.
  2. Choose suitable directories and select one or many matching rows.
  3. Prepare a campaign, or grant the specific permissions for reviewed free submissions.
  4. Complete human handoffs in the real browser and inspect the evidence.
A directory in the catalog is a destination to research, not a guaranteed automatic integration. A received submission is pending editorial review, not a live listing.

Install on Windows

Download the official Windows installer from ListingSail. Run it for your current Windows user. The installed application and private workspace use separate folders, so updating the software does not replace your saved profiles or queue.

A portable ZIP is also available: extract every file, keep _internal beside the executable, and launch the app. Portable/source copies do not install updates automatically. The preview is unsigned; verify the release source and published SHA-256 before running it.

Activate your monthly license

Buy Standard ($29 USD/month, one device and five websites) or Agency ($79 USD/month, three devices and 50 websites). Use your confirmed-email account at Billing to retrieve your software key after a confirmed payment.

  1. Open License in the desktop app.
  2. Use Paste key, right-click → Paste, or Ctrl+V.
  3. Click Activate license. Pasting alone does not activate or purchase anything.

Keys are checked with the server. Expired, revoked or unconfirmed access pauses automation while your local files remain available. Never send a key in public chat, a website profile or a screenshot.

Connect your own AI

Choose your provider in AI & connections, then run the connection test. Connect your AI contains the current setup links. Codex and Claude use your own installed, authenticated CLI. ListingSail does not copy their authentication files.

Gemini CLI requires your private GEMINI_API_KEY environment variable and a compatible installed CLI. Ollama requires a preinstalled model name and the local service at http://127.0.0.1:11434; ListingSail does not download models. The connection test checks readiness. Provider quotas, model availability, local hardware and costs remain separate from the ListingSail license. Do not assume that a free provider allowance is unlimited or available to every account. AI suggestions are validated data; generated scripts are not executed.

Build and review your website profile

Add a public website URL. Discovery reads a bounded set of same-site pages and suggests fields with source references. Unknown facts remain blank. Review the title, descriptions, category, public contacts, claims and assets in Edit website, then confirm I reviewed these public facts.

Grant free-submission and account-creation permissions separately. A review checkbox is not permission to create an account, accept terms, install backlinks or pay a fee. Manual profiles also need an explicit review before their submission kit can be copied.

Find the right directories

The catalog contains 763 unique directory domains, separated into automatic API routes, CAPTCHA/verification, account-required, paid, conditional, research and unavailable groups. The existing proven API integration and 11 browser candidates have different evidence; candidates are not proven unattended integrations.

Filter by fee, website type and evidence. Sort by Popularity (Majestic), name or suitability for the selected website. Majestic Million ranks reflect domain link prominence based on referring subnets, not visits, DA/DR or traffic to the submission page. Unranked domains remain visible.

Open Details / submission kit for complete requirements, recorded rule sources, dated availability and rank provenance. A successful homepage HTTP response does not verify a working submission form. Refresh catalog preserves local prose and pauses conflicting operational updates for source review.

Select once. Work through a campaign.

Use Select all matching or select individual rows. Prepare selected creates local tasks without granting publication. Submit free reviewed still requires current website permission and route checks. Start the queue when ready.

The default run is bounded to ten directories or 30 minutes, with a single local worker and spacing between tasks. Remaining tasks stay queued. Select-all does not increase the run budget or authorize fees and terms.

The submission kit provides per-field and whole-kit copy plus a link to the saved official form. It makes manual routes easier without pretending to submit them automatically.

Continue where a human is needed

CAPTCHA, passwords, 2FA, ownership verification, binding consent, payment and unsupported fields can require you. Leave the dedicated browser open, complete the requested step, then continue the exact waiting task. ListingSail does not forge or replay CAPTCHA tokens.

Inspect the directory before reopening an uncertain task. If a submission may already have been sent, explicitly confirm that no receipt exists. Reopening refreshes reviewed revisions and clears earlier per-attempt approvals. Confirmed received submissions are not blindly retried.

Confirm directory registration emails

Use a dedicated mailbox and enable directory account creation only when intended. Configure IMAP in Mailbox & confirmations; Gmail typically requires a suitable app password. Credentials are protected with Windows DPAPI.

The companion opens INBOX read-only and inspects bounded new messages tied to a requested registration. It checks the intended recipient, authenticated sender, date and confirmation domain. Supported confirmation links can continue the account flow. Ambiguous links, password resets, payments, OTP and unrelated messages remain human tasks. Mail is not sent to AI or marked read by this workflow.

Use ListingSail through MCP

MCP & integrations provides local client configuration using the actual executable and private data path. Local MCP shares the desktop queue and worker lease. The remote endpoint, https://listingsail.com/mcp, uses a separate server workspace and a monthly license.

Use the client’s protected environment/header settings for authentication. Never put a license key in a public URL. Local browser sessions and mailbox passwords are not synchronized to the remote service.

MCP tools and permissions

The release exposes 14 local tools and 12 remote tools. Tools cover license status, reviewed briefs, directory search, planning/playbooks, campaign records and appropriate local controls. Ask your client to list the tools actually available on its connected server.

Directory queries use the same evidence and prominence concepts as the app. A submission playbook can supply reviewed copy and next steps. Tool access does not grant human publication, registration, fee, consent or live-listing attestation.

Keep your software current

Official per-user installations enable automatic updates by default. Software updates shows the setting, last check and update status. Checks and downloads run in the background; the installer is checked against official release metadata and SHA-256.

Installation waits for active local/shared browser work, other operations and open editors or dialogs to finish. The app then closes for the installer and restarts. Use the page to check manually or disable automatic updates. Portable/source copies use the official installer or a fresh manual download.

Subscriptions and the free web account

Software subscriptions renew monthly in USD through Stripe. AI-provider usage and third-party directory fees are separate. Manage payment methods, invoices and cancellation of future renewal through Billing and the Stripe customer portal. A checkout return page alone is not proof of payment.

The separate free web account provides ten directory units per UTC calendar month, shared across its websites. It is not a paid desktop license. Confirm your account email before requesting web service work. Read the terms and use notice for current scope.

Troubleshooting and support

Cannot paste the key?

Click the masked License field and use Paste key, the right-click menu or Ctrl+V. Copy one key without extra lines. Pasting never triggers activation automatically.

Provider or connection error?

Test your selected provider and account first. Quota errors remain provider limits. Check that the required CLI or local model is installed. Avoid repeated automatic retries of uncertain calls.

A directory is blocked or needs research?

Read its full requirements and current official rules. Use a reviewed submission kit for a manual route. Resolve catalog conflicts from current details; fee confirmation cannot override a metadata conflict.

An update waits?

Finish browser work, close editors and dialogs, then leave the app idle. Your queue remains saved. Portable copies require manual installation.
